Home / Injectable Fillers

If you want to revitalize your face without undergoing invasive surgery, dermal fillers in Miami might be your best option. In the hands of a board-certified cosmetic or plastic surgeon, dermal fillers can virtually erase wrinkles on the face, volumize the lips, add definition to the cheeks and chin, fine-tune facial structure, contour the face, minimize scars, and hydrate the skin.

What are Injectable Dermal Fillers?

Injectable Dermal Fillers are a highly sought-after minimally invasive cosmetic treatment for facial rejuvenation that involves inserting a gel material into the dermal layer of the skin to increase volume and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

How do They Work?

Dermal fillers work by volumizing "hollow" areas of the skin. Due to aging, our skin tends to lose the fats and proteins that give it its elastic structure and youthful appearance. Dermal fillers volumize these areas to plump the skin and diminish wrinkles while adding definition to improve the face's proportions. Cosmetic and plastic surgeons use fillers to raise the cheeks, define the chin, plump the lips, and diminish bags under the eyes to rejuvenate the face without resorting to more invasive procedures.

Today's most popular dermal fillers are those based on hyaluronic acid, such as Juvederm and Restylane. Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance abundant in our skin, plays a crucial role in tissue repair and skin healing. It achieves this by boosting hydration and forming structures, contributing to a healthy skin appearance. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is particularly effective at creating volume because it is a hydrophilic molecule that strongly attracts water. HA draws moisture from the air, resulting in skin hydration and plumping.

It is also used in many high-end cosmetic formulations available over the counter. In the following discussion, we will explore some additional types of injectable dermal fillers available to consumers today and provide a brief rundown on some of the options offered by our board-certified surgeons at Avana Wellness Plus.

WHICH FILLER IS RIGHT FOR ME?

There is a wide selection of dermal filler products available today. At Avana Wellness Plus, our board-certified surgeons are ready to help you select the most appropriate product. Because different fillers have different densities and textures, they're better suited to specific target areas.

At our clinic, you will collaborate with your surgeon to select the best product for your needs. To get you started, we've provided a brief overview of the different filler products available today:

Juvederm and Restylane

Juvederm and Restylane use hyaluronic acid to volumize the skin and improve its texture by filling recessed areas of the skin, such as scars and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid fillers are temporary and will last approximately six to nine months. They are an excellent option for scarring from acne or trauma, sunken cheekbones, crow's feet, forehead wrinkles, smile, frown, and marionette lines. They can improve "smoker's lips" and are an excellent option for lip augmentation.

Restylane is beneficial for treating the lips, cheeks, and nose. It can also be used to fill in and rejuvenate the back of the hands, one of the first places on the body to show signs of premature aging. These two products provide exceptional results, erasing wrinkles and fine lines and adding volume to make the skin appear firmer and plumper. Restylane's effects can take up to a day or two before they become fully apparent, whereas the effects of Juvederm are visible immediately.

Radiesse

Radiesse is a highly durable injectable dermal filler made of calcium particles that target moderate-to-severe facial lines and wrinkles. It is made of highly resilient material (it is naturally produced in our bones!). This dermal filler accentuates the contours of the cheeks and jawline, imparting structural definition to the entire face. Additionally, it is employed to enhance volume in highly wrinkled hands.

Radiesse adds volume to the skin during the first three months following initial treatment and continues reducing aging effects by stimulating new collagen production. The results may last up to two years because new tissue is generated. Radiesse is also used to contour the face to significant effect because these fillers do not migrate under the skin and are, therefore, known to yield very natural results.

Sculptra

Sculptra is a non-toxic, semi-permanent synthetic dermal filler that prompts your body to generate fresh collagen. It lasts about two years and is especially effective in the lower half of your face, targeting deep wrinkles and lines.

The Sculptra procedure collaborates with your body to encourage the generation of new collagen, leading to a naturally enhanced volume and improved complexion. The results are gradual because it increases collagen production in your body.

INJECTABLE DERMAL FILLER VS. BOTOX

Dermal fillers and Botox injections, though both minimally invasive cosmetic procedures aimed at significantly reducing the signs of aging, employ distinct methods to achieve this objective. Botox is produced by and extracted from the bacteria Clostridium botulinum, and it is injected into hypertonic muscles to cause paralysis or relaxation. Botox injections target dynamic wrinkles, which develop due to years of repetitive facial expressions. The goal is to hinder dynamic wrinkles from progressing into static ones by temporarily paralyzing the related muscles.

Dermal Fillers can treat static wrinkles, typically toward the bottom half of the face. These wrinkles are always present, regardless of your facial expression. Additionally, dermal fillers can improve the appearance of the skin by increasing hydration and filling in hollowed areas such as acne scars. Botox has no volumizing effect and cannot give you a bigger pout.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Injectable dermal fillers are viable for patients who want to refresh their face but don't want to undergo invasive surgery. As a short, minimally invasive procedure performed in the office, you can expect no downtime with fillers and only minimal tenderness at the injection sites. Fillers are also reversible; some are reabsorbed into the body over several months, which may interest patients who do not want to change their bodies permanently. Hyaluronic dermal fillers can be used long-term to increase skin hydration by increasing the amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin. Hyaluronic acid fillers restore our natural reserves because the filler is reabsorbed into the body for six to nine months. Our natural hyaluronic acid reserves decrease as we age, especially in areas exposed to environmental toxins and daily wear and tear, such as the face, neck, and hands.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE?

Any healthy person who doesn't smoke cigarettes and has good skin hygiene is a good candidate for this procedure, so long as they want to pursue fillers for their reasons. You should never pursue cosmetic surgery because someone else is pressuring you.

  • St John's Wort
  • Vitamin E
  • Ginseng
  • Gingko Biloba
  • Primrose oil
  • Garlic

TWO TO THREE DAYS BEFORE THE PROCEDURE

  • Waxing, tweezing, bleaching, and hair removal products on the treatment area.

RECOVERY TIPS

For optimal results, it's advisable to abstain from strenuous exercise for at least 12 hours following your dermal filler injections. Additionally, it's recommended to avoid direct sunlight exposure for a minimum of three days and to abstain from alcohol for one day. To expedite healing and reduce swelling, gently massage the injection site for a few days and apply cold compresses. Typically, the swelling should subside within a week.

RISKS AND SIDE EFFECTS

According to the FDA, the most common side effects associated with dermal fillers are:

  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Pain
  • Itching

Less common side effects include:

  • Infections
  • Lumps and bumps
  • Discoloration

As with any medical procedure, an allergic reaction to a component of the medication leading to a life-threatening allergic reaction may occur. However, when a licensed physician performs this procedure, medical staff is prepared for this low-probability potentiality, and life-saving epinephrine is available in all our facilities if this takes place. Our facilities always follow FDA guidelines, and administering injectable dermal fillers by licensed physicians is considered an incredibly safe cosmetic procedure.

HOW MUCH DO INJECTABLE DERMAL FILLERS COST IN MIAMI?

The price range for injectable dermal fillers at Avana Wellness Plus in Miami depends on the number of areas treated. Generally, the cost should fall in the $250- $575 range per treatment area.

INJECTABLE FILLERS FAQS

Which areas can be treated with injectable dermal fillers?

Physicians use injectable dermal fillers to treat facial lines and wrinkles, including marionette lines, smile lines, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles. They can also dramatically contour the face by adding definition to the chin and cheekbones. Additionally, they can restore volume to the lips for a "plump" appearance and volumize sunken temples for a dramatically improved facial profile. Fillers are a great tool to create symmetry and improve facial proportions. Finally, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can also improve skin hydration on the face when used long-term.

Do injectable dermal fillers hurt?

You might feel some pain during the procedure, but there is no pain after finishing the process. The discomfort's extent may differ depending on the individual's tolerance and the specific injection site (some areas have more nerve endings than others, causing more pain sensation).

Which is better: Juvederm or Restylane?

There is no simple answer. You can make the best decision once an experienced Avana Wellness Plus provider evaluates your needs and develops the best treatment plan based on your circumstances. Your board-certified surgeon may even recommend a combination of several fillers to reach your facial rejuvenation goals. Sculptra and Radiesse: How are They Different?

The dermal fillers Sculptra and Radiesse are known for their widespread use in treating signs of premature aging, such as wrinkles, lines, and volume loss throughout the face. As collagen boosters, both dermal fillers work to encourage the growth of collagen and various other biological proteins in the skin for a long time after they have been injected into the skin.

How long do injectable fillers last?

The most commonly used filler--hyaluronic acid dermal filler--lasts six to nine months.

Can I remove my injectable fillers?

Your surgeon can dissolve your hyaluronic acid dermal fillers with hyaluronidase injections.

How much do injectable fillers cost in Miami?

The cost will fluctuate depending on the type of filler used and the quantity of treated areas. Typically, injectable dermal fillers cost between $250- $575 per treatment area.
